Chubby Chic - Travel in Style

I prioritize comfort when I travel, and generally, I don't care about looking stylish in flight.
I admire those who can look super polished, wearing shorts, mini skirts and heels.
My sis doesn't belong to the heels and polished traveler category, but she'd be damned if she's caught traveling anything but in style.
Travel in Style

...and for her, it's not only about the outfit.
Travel in Style
The bag, the luggage, the hat...everything's gotta be cool.

How about you? How do you travel?

Hard Rock Hotel, Macau

Where did we stay in Macau?
Heard lots of good things about Hard Rock Hotel Macau, so we gave it a try...
It's located in Taipa, right across the Venetian, connected to City of Dreams Casino and a small shopping centre selling luxury goods.

One of my favorite thing about the hotel is...

The view from our room. It's gorgeous!

So we spent a good amount of time staring out the floor to ceiling windows..

More staring...

...and the swimming pool isn't bad at all...

It has a fake beach lounge area, a sunken bar, jacuzzi, beach volleyball court, hammocks, and lots of toys...but, consequently, so many kids!

Let's admire the view once more~
Sigh~

Once we've checked in, we rushed to prepare to hit the pool :D

The room is not too big, it's clean, the decor is young and modern.

The TV channels are far from impressive, if not boring (no Discovery Travel and Living). WiFi is free for one user per room.

Toiletries and hair dryer were ok...but I'd still prefer Pantene & Dettol over their shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.

Another thing we love about the hotel...
The hammocks by the pool!

Lovely!

We would've spent more time here if it wasn't for the rain T_T

For HK$2630 (for two), 2 days 1 night, including buffet breakfast + ferry tickets + shuttle bus from ferry terminal to hotel...it's overpriced. I'd choose another hotel next time.

Souvenirs from Macau

I am a sucker for souvenirs...so although I've been to Macau numerous times, I still bought some tiny little lovelies. I always love this lil' lucky black cock, so cute and colorful! So I bought a tiny figurine and a fridge magnet ;) not exactly useful, but what the heck :D

Love porcelains, love blue and whites...or green and white, so I bought this pretty porcelain decanter, which I plan to use as a vase. I love how East and West it is. I figured that I could use the little tiles as coaster...so I bought them too...there were still so many stuff I wanted to get, but luckily SC stopped me ^_^

Look at these beauties!

If he wasn't there, I wouldn't know how to stop myself....I want them!

Oh my~ I want those wall vases...

...and the tea set...
I want 'em all!

Too bad I didn't get the address of this shop, but it's around the St. Paul's ruins, on the street where they sell Chinese antique furniture and paintings. Go on, explore!

Favorite Bali Holiday Outfits

Here's one of them...white cotton tunic, cinched at the waist, with pretty embroidery. Too bad the material was so thin, the left sleeve was ripped when I was bending over backwards taking pictures. Sob sob...good thing it wasn't expensive. I got it from Sukowati Market for Rp.40.000,-

I paired it with denim shorts from H&M, and threw a couple of gold vintage inspired necklaces I borrowed from my sis. But I reckon, the frangipani on my hair and the exotic Balinese dancer were the things that made the outfit. ^_^

Cellotaped Vehicles - Should I worry?

Cellotape seems to be the popular vehicle fixing choice in Indonesia. Look at that bitchin' van I captured in Bali....and...

Noticing the side walls of the aircraft being stuck together by 3M tape....should I start to worry?

Flight Friendly Outfit

What did I wear flying from Hong Kong to Jakarta, Jakarta to Bali?
Something that can survive the flight without severely wrinkled, the heat of tropical island, and the cold of thousand of miles above the sea level ...and still cute.
- My chiffon plaid ruffled top - wrinkle free, brightly colored, super cute
- My comfy jeans - no minis or shorts on a flight for me, I find aircraft seat fabric upholstery super itchy
- Comfy sandals - so that I can kick them off easily in flight, I always bring a pair of socks for long flights to keep my toes from freezing
- A short cotton hoodie to wear during flight, yest it gets really cold up there
- A chic batik fan to survive Indonesia's heat
- Minimum or no make up, I wanna be able to rub my eyes when I woke up from my flight nap
- and keep hair off the back of my neck. I don't mind looking rather silly in pig tails, hope I could still pull them off
Everything I wore were remixed, except for the batik fan, Rp.15.000 from Batik Keris, Soekarno Hatta Airport, Jakarta.

See you on the other side!

Holiday Outfits - Red Jersey Tube Dress

Wrinkle free jersey tube dress with the prettiest pattern ever (from Sunway Pyramid Mall, Kuala Lumpur)! I love the little stripe running down the chest with cute little buttons on it.

Let's see what other things I could slap on to perfect this outfit.

Not Your Average Delivery Guy & My Motorcycle Traumas

Motorcycle is a significant part of Jakarta's transport.

They break through traffic deadlocks pretty easily, swarms of these can be found in Jakarta's streets, and they scare the heck outta me. I can't ride a bike, not to mention a motorcycle, but I had my share of motorcycle nightmares as a passenger.

My motorcycle traumas:
- I had an experience of being a passenger on a motorcycle from Grogol to Mangga Dua, and during the two hours ride, I pretty much buried my face on the driver's jacket, almost lost some toes, and I am sure my heart was shrunk to the size of a frozen pea.
- I was injured another time, when my friend's motorcycle hit a cement road divider. We fell, the motorcycle fell on top of my shin, and a bus passed, missed us by a few centimeters.
- I was getting ready to hop onto the passenger seat, and my friend, the driver, started to drive away. I landed flat on my butt, my skirt went up, right in front of a bunch of guys. The embarrassment? It helped shaping me into the shameless girl I am now ^_^

I loved this scene of a bunch of giant tires being delivered by a motorcycle. The way the tires were arranged ensure balance on the tiny vehicle. Quite a work of art, don't you think?

An Endangered Vehicle - Taxi in KL?

Spoilt with public transport convenience in Hong Kong, I wasn't thrilled when faced with the challenge to find taxis during my recent trip to KL. Even from famous places such as major shopping malls and KL Sentral station, I had to wait for more than 40 minutes to get a taxi.

The queue gets longer and longer, and even when there's one taxi stopping by the stand, which was really rare, the driver generally refused to take you to your destination, due to the jam. Even when there are taxi pools, you'll probably have to bargain and agree on the price in advance, as most drivers won't take you based on the meter charges.

Although I haven't complained about it previously, by no means it is something new. I am from Indonesia, a country with not much less notorious taxi reputation in South East Asia. Stories of violent drivers who might just bring you to the pier and sell your kidneys or rob you blind were not even a surprise. Thank God the taxi experience got better in Indonesia. It is now mostly cases of drivers who pretend to be nice and offering endless polite apologies when caught going round and round, extending your 5 minutes journey to a 3 hours ride ^_^
