Patterns on Patterns

My lil' sis and I...
we may look alike, but in terms of style, we are like...
the earth and the sky,
fire and water,
black and white,
so completely different.

Funny thing is, when we are around each other, we are always influenced by each other's style.
I dig her quirkiness, but I can hardly carry what she puts together.

Floral Weekend, Belt or No Belt?

An afternoon of shopping.
Love floral pattern in earthy fall colors.
Love the flattering length and shape of the sleeves.
Love the fact that this dress costs less than HK$100.
Love the fact that I just had to wear one layer in this suffocating heat.

Had to lose the belt when it got too hot, my waist was drenched in sweat in no time.

I'd rather be mistaken for a mom-to-be than let heat ruin my day of shopping.

Dress = Kwai Chung Plaza, 3rd floor, HK$70
Shoes = Nose, Kuala Lumpur
Belt = H&M
Bag = IT outlet

Rain Boots - Snakeskin

After a few days of drenched feet in the rain, I decided to get myself a pair of rain boots.
Saw so many hideous ones, but once you saw "the one", you'd know, you'd feel it...this is it!
Purplish pink shade with snake skin pattern, last pair, in my size exactly.
It's destiny, no?

Rain boots = Kwai Chung Plaza, 3rd floor, HK$120

Hot Curler Victim

Straight or curly?

Before...

Simply layered to grow long enough....to be a hot curler victim.

If you thought playing with hot curler was my idea...

Think again.

Asymmetrical high rise hair is in this season.

So I was glad to experiment.

I needed longer hair to build higher, more extreme sculpture.

It's not as if I am an expert...

I'll try to do better next time.

You likey?

Another Balloon Minidress

If I liked something, I'll be damned if I didn't buy all the available colors. Hehe.

Remember this balloon minidress?

Since it is also available in peachy orange color, I surely bought it too! :p

Which color you like better?

Dress = Lady Story, Yaumatei MTR station
Everything else = remixed

Hong Kong Movie Shooting Commotion - Eason Chan & Karena Lam

This was Causeway Bay, right in front of Sogo department store last night around 20:00.

What's with the commotion?
A fight? A cat fight? Accident? Acid rain? Someone giving away money/free gifts? Scantily clad leng mo (teenage models) giving away free sexy bolsters?
I wish.
It was a HK movie shoot and the crowd was going nuts trying to get a glimpse of their idols.

A friend of mine often asked me if I've experienced many celebrity sightings in Hong Kong.
Yeah, a few times...Tony Leung, Rain Li, Sherman something, William something, Boyz, Anthony Wong, JJ...and probably a few more that I can't remember.

Have you imagined what would you do when you see a celebrity face to face/walking right in front of you?
A. Take a picture/shoot a video to show off to your friends
B. Approach them and say you're a big fan and you love their work very much (although it might not be the truth)
C. Ask them to take a picture/shoot a video with you, to show off to more friends
D. Ask for a signature
E. Act super cool, pretending not to see them, pretending that seeing Tony Leung in person is an every day event
F. None of the above

In many occasions, I opted to go with E. Probably because back then there was no medium for me to show off share my sightings.

But now...the most important thing is to get some shots of them, albeit blurry ones/back shots.
Who the heck are they?
Karena Lam & Eason Chan.
I was so determined to get a shot (As luck would have it, I didn't have my better camera, tried my best to make the most of my teeny tiny point and shoot), I thickened my face, ignored the shouts and warnings from the movie shooting assistants and elbowed my way to the front of the commotion.

...and still, all I could get was this crappy back shot.

...and blurry frontal shot.

Sous chef, being a major fan of Karena Lam, gawked endlessly at her and kept saying "Ohhhhh, how pretty! She is so pretty! Pretty, pretty, PRETTY!"
All I could say was "Eason Chan. He is so...err....talented." ^_^

In the video, you'll get a better look at them, as they walked right in front of me at around 00:53.

Experience a HK movie shoot atmosphere as the assistants shooed away onlookers and kept shouting "the shoot is about to begin", "please stand back" and "do not use flash, PLEASE!"

Creative Home Decor - Colander Lights

Look what I've found at G.O.D!
How creative!
Gorgeous lights made of colander of all colors and shapes.

I so want some for my home.

Touches of Blue

This blue seems to be my favorite hue of the year.
It's great paired with any color, this time it's slapped on an easy black and white ensemble.
A little mustard just saved the combo from looking too matchy matchy.

Top = Gallery Keris, Jakarta
Cardigan = Fa Yuen St Market, HK$39
Necklace = Fa Yuen St Market, HK$10
Earrings = H&M
Shoes = Vincci, Kuala Lumpur
Watch = Alter Ego, Tag Heuer

Typhoon Koppu Signal 8

When I got home from work (a little earlier due to Typhoon Koppu signal 8)...the container terminal seemed quite, serene, and a little creepy with black, grey and white sky.

The clouds were moving so fast, almost like fast forwarded.

I was elbow deep with ingredients, busy cooking dinner when sous chef shouted "Hey! Do you want to photograph the traffic congestion?"
I surely did. Quickly ran to the window grabbing my camera on the way.
Despite being in a hurry (there were pots of stuff boiling on my stove), I took some shots, so please forgive the crappy pics. At least you got an idea how everyone crammed the expressway wanting to go home.

At night...I just realised that I've never paid attention to the container terminal being all dark. It's normally busy 24-7. I was in awe.

The next morning....signal 8 was still hoisted, it was all hazy hazy outta my window.
The sky quickly cleared as the government announced signal 3 and I brushed my teeth preparing to go to work.

We hate overnight T8.

Office Sweet Rocker

A flickr friend of mine asked if I wore my previous sweet rocker outfit to work, as it looks too casual for office. That made me think of a way to wear some metal studs to work...turned out, it wasn't so hard. Simply go easy on the metal studs, paired them with officey items such as cardi and skirts. I didn't wear my hair this way too, I let it all down, I did this out of frustration as typhoon 8 strong wind kept blowing my hair to my face ^_^

Say hello to my shoe cabinet's new family member....
HK$70 from Fa Yuen St Market.

Cardigan = Causeway Bay, circa long long time ago
Skirt & Belt = H&M
Necklace = Kwai Chung Plaza, HK$49
Earrings = Kwai Chung Plaza, HK$10
Shoes and bag = Fa Yuen St Market

Guys with Eyeliner, Yay or Nay?

I might be a little crazy, but I dig guys with eyeliner.

It screams confidence, and it does take a huge courage to walk around the town with girls elbowed their boyfriends to look, girlfriends whispered to each other, mothers covered their son's eyes (ok, I exaggerated this bit hehe), all talking about the-pretty-weirdo-with-his-eyeliner.

Just don't do the ultra thin eyebrows, guys. Some people might like it, but not my cup of tea.

Punk and pretty, with a touch of mytery.
Ahhh, I love them metros.

I don't think you need to do the all black, metal studded rock ensemble to carry the smoky eyes.
Be different and wear something pretty. It's summer for freak's sake.
Just a touch of metal studs would be enough.

Blue fedora = IT, HK$299
Purple t-shirt = circa long long time ago
Vest = FCK Kitterick at IT, HK$149
Shorts = Cotton On, HK$199
Belt = Argyle Center, HK$20
Eyeliner = Sasa, black with silver sparkles retractable pencil liner, HK$39

Sweet Rocker - Metal Studs Meets Pretty Lace

I loveeee the rocker trend and as always, I like to mix the tough and sweet look together.
So metal studs, meet pretty, girly lace.

Scored this bag for HK$120, from Fa Yuen Street market.
I love how it has metal studs and chains, but yet not overwhelmingly studded.

....and of course the Naruto-ish ninja boots in grey.
Comfy and flattering, a steal at HK$79 from Fa Yuen St market, Prince Edward.

Everything else? Remixed.

Balloon Minidress

The balloon-like bottom accomodates by giant butt well ^_^

A belt is really a must. Without one? I'd look like a balloon indeed.

Wore this to work today...smart casual Friday ^_^
Dress = Lady Story, HK$109
Belt & necklace = H&M
Shoes = Kwai Chung Plaza

80s Party Fashion Sightings

How did my workmates dress for the 80s party? Here are some of the highlights...

Sparkly top, tight pencil skirt, fishnet stockings and slicked back hair. Very 80s singer ^_^

Elvis Presley, he came from the wrong decade to an 80s party.

We have Luigi bouncing for mushrooms...

Peter Pan....

Dragon Ball Z...

Plus the bad guy from Dragon Ball Z.
My workmates' creativity certainly goes beyond neon colors and leg warmers.

Ooooohhh Top Gun!

...and of course we have the neon colors, other version of Madonna and aerobic inspired outfits...and the proper 80s big hair I always envied!

...and I gotta pose with my fellow rockers, and another version of Madonna.

It was one heck of a partay!
