Your Worst Nightmare, My Ultimate Fantasy - Life Is No Fair

*picture borrowed from Shigellavirus Infection*

Whoever did the above picture...GENIUS!

Although many of my friends and probably billions of fans worldwide would disagree or event fainted the moment they saw the above picture...but I kinda like the idea of my current hot idol fooling around with another boy ^_^

Staring admiringly into each other's eyes...
Fingers tracing each other's hands...
Moving strands of hair away from each other's face...
Faces get closer...
Hearts beat faster...
...
OK. I need more practice before I can write a good boy-to-boy porn, don't you think?

Call me a pervert :p, I like it!

It's my ultimate fantasy, while it's Athena's worst nightmare.

Call me silly, but knowing that there's something to look forward to every Monday and Tuesday 10.30pm at J2 always cheers up my start-of-the-week blues. Sous chef has been informed that the big TV shall be reserved within the specified periods for my hot boys gawking purposes. He can kill zombies with his friends the rest of the week.

Every happiness deserves to be shared, right? It is no fun screaming alone every time my hot idol appears on my large, high definition TV screen.

As my fellow hot guys worshippers aren't around every Monday and Tuesday, sous chef shall take their place and act as my girl friend.
I never expected him to admire the hot guys, I even felt happy when he gawk at the hot girls. Does he complain about having to watch the drama series with me?

You bet your ass he does.
Endlessly.

What do I say every time I receive a complaint?
Don't I deserve two hours of your life?

He didn't say anything to that.

But today....
He asked "Since you've asked me to watch the goddamn drama series with you, can I ask you to play video games with me?"

I was flabbergasted, but still, I said no :p

Love or not, I ain't fighting no zombies.
Life is unfair, eh?

Read Joe's creative answer when Athena asked him to watch the drama series with her.

Current Hot Topic - Boys over Flowers

OK. This is something I am not proud of, it took a lot of me to admit this in writing ^_^'

But, I am hooked on this cliche fairy-tale romance, Boys over Flowers.
It's a Korean version (yes it has been made into a few versions) of a Japanese manga, Hana Yori Dango. I won't talk about the story, if you're from Asia, you probably know it from the ever so popular Taiwanese version, Meteor Garden. If not, you can read all about it here.

(Remember these hotnesses?)

Yes, imagine me, an old hag, drooling, swooning, crying, laughing, gawking at a bunch of young boys. Arrrghhh. I didn't even wanna believe what I am saying.

But why?
A few reasons:
1. hot guys
2. fairy tale romance
3. eye candy set decor and costume
4. hot guys
5. entertainment value
6. hot guys
7. happy ending
8. hot guys

How hot exactly?

Sizzling. Don't you think?

But are we that shallow? Is physical beauty the only thing we're after?
Ehm, pretty much. Haha! Kidding. Maybe not the only thing, but it does play an important part in the commercial success of the series. Choose a bunch of ugly guys and let's see if they could earn a penny.

Sous chef could never understand why the heck girls (including old ladies) would fall for such a predictable story of a prince falling in love with a humble nobody.

I guess deep (deep deep DEEP) down inside, who doesn't dream of being loved by a prince-like character (tall, dark, handsome, smart, rich, and loving?). It's almost every little girl's dream (blame in on Disney)!

It's just like every little boy's dream to save the world with fantasy gadgets/robots, fighting enemies from galaxies far far away, with a hot love story with a sizzling hot girl on the side.

I guess we are all the same.

If sous chef loving the heroic character-gadgets-robots-world saving story-and-hot girl combo is considered normal, then so is my loving cheesy romance full of hot guys.

Now now now...we are not that shallow, we don't only love hotness. We love our hotnesses to come with certain characteristics.

I love below character the most, as he reminds me of the old sous chef.
Confident, straight to the point, knows exactly what he wants and willing to die going after it.
Don't we all love a character who's rough and mean to others, whose eyes only lights up when he sees the love of his life, whose sweet smiles and tenderness are only hers? Rough on the outside but tender on the inside, just like a piece of good steak ^_^
PS. Don't we love this character even more if they were played by actors who look like these guys?

(Jerry Yan - Taiwan's Daomingsi and Lee Min Ho - Korea's Gu Jun Pyo)

...and don't we all want a faithful admirer. A guy who will always stay by our side, who always helps, protects and comforts us when we're having a problem with the main star, who loves us no matter what, even if we don't love him back?
Wouldn't be even better if the guy plays various musical instruments and sometimes serenades us with his angelic-beautiful voice?
and ofcourse, it'd also be nice if the guy is drop dead gorgeous, like these guys...

Vic Zhou - Taiwan's Hua Ze Lei

Kim Hyun Joong - Korea's Yun Ji Hoo

Look at them! Young, chic and pretty. No wonder ladies go crazy about them.
How crazy exactly?
There are people who:
- want to get the exact phones they use in the series
- want to visit Korea (from countries far far away) just to watch their concert or get a glimpse of these guys
- are willing to pay for big bucks to attend a fan club meeting
The producers really know how to make money eh?

Am I one of them? Ehm, not yet.
I borrow the DVDs or watch the series from a FREE online streaming sites.
So much for a huge fan.

I spent my days chit chatting with my girlfriends about this current obsession (I consider those days well spent). Check out whom she drools at at her blog, Athena's Little C9 (the article is written in Chinese, but plenty of hot guys to gawk at).

Gifts, Flowers, Hong Kong Valentine Street Sightings

Do you say flowers are so unnecessary on Valentine's day?

If you heard me saying so, I was probably just pretending to be cool (I am just a typical girl, saying A, but expecting B). I love flowers. Valentine's day, birthday, flag day, public holiday, what the heck, even Monday! Give them to me any day...and even if was having a freakin' bad day, that would've certainly made me feel better.

Doest it have to be expensive? Does size (of the bouquet) matter? Does the species of the flowers matter? Does it have to be exotic? Does it have to be 12cm diameter velvet roses? Does it have to be 99? 11? 12?
Nope.

A bunch of carnations costs HK$7. Buy 5 or 10, or even just 1 of them, no bows, no papers, no fuss, no muss.

...and now gifts.
Actually, once I got my flowers, nothing else is necessary. But who doesn't love receiving a gift?

It's something I absolutely needed, a pair of sport shoes. Now I have a new reason to go to the gym, apart from checking out my super hot dance teacher ;)

...and a wireless headphone. So I don't have to listen to all the hadoken and shoryuken when I didn't want to.

How many bouquet of flowers did I spot on the street on Valentine's day?
Check out the pictures here and here. The bad, the blurry and the ugly. Almost uncensored.

Aren't you glad the day is over?

My Vintage Valentine Outfit

Sorry to disappoint, it was nothing sexy, seductive, nor slutty. :p
I wanted it to be something comfy, terribly sweet, and hopelessly romantic.
If it wasn't the day when I could pull of a baby pink vintage cotton lace frock...then when is?
Plus, it goes well with my little bunch of pink carnations ;)

Dress = vintage pink cotton lace from Jakarta
Belt = stretchy cream belt with gold flower buckle, from Argyle Center
Necklace = faux pearl, remixed
Earrings = pink stone with gold frame from Forever 21, Jakarta, remixed
Shoes = white peeptoe heels, remixed

...more details of that day to follow, please bear with me, and try not to puke ^_^

Valentine - What's It to Ya?

I wrote about a rather materialistic Valentine and the importance of flowers on Valentine's day last year, and this year, there were things who made me wonder what Valentine means to Hong Kongers.

A rough summary of what's found on a local online forum:
Topic: Valentine's Day Bouquet Delivery
A: Live Valentine's Flower Delivery Report from my office: None received yet
B: Yes. Same here. The girls seem to be really low profile this year
C: How come? My office is full of flowers. Non stop flower deliveries
B: None here. Not even a bunch of broccoli in sight (broccoli in Cantonese = sai lan fa = it has the word "flower" in it)
D: I am opening a pack of peanuts, let's see which girl will receive (flowers) first
D: Ah ha! One delivery just arrived! going to monitor status of recipient (drama drama drama)

Important: Today is NOT the V day yet! It is Friday the 13th, Feb 2009. The Valentine's day is TOMORROW!!!

Why are the bouquets being delivered today??? Why not tomorrow?
- Cheaper than delivery on 14th?
- Sender actually doesn't know when exactly is Valentine's Day and just follow girlfriend's instructions?
- No point receiving flowers if nobody sees them and get really really jealous?

To me, Valentine's day is...
- the day I can laugh at everybody's extravagant dinner/gift/flowers plans
- the day I can get jealous of other girls' bouquet of flowers although I won't show it
- the day I use the word "unnecessary" as an excuse for not planning anything special, when the real reason is laziness and lack of ideas
- the day I say romance is silly while secretly hoping for it
- the day I can blame sous chef for listening to me and not planning anything

Valentine’$$$$$ Day

Valentine's Day in the super commercialized Hong Kong is an affair to remember, for its pricey-ness, especially for boys, but more importantly, for girls.

Exactly how much does LOVE cost on V-day?

BOYS might spend their dough on:

- Romantic dinner for 2 at restaurants which your girlfriend might find acceptable: HK$600 - 1000
- A bouquet of flowers delivered to her office, which must be big enough to impress her workmates (and provoke jealousy): HK$800 - 1000 (kindly note that number of blossoms is generally viewed as directly proportional to how much you love her)
- A box of chocolate (the minimum is HK$59 Ferrero roche, HK$200 Godiva earns you brownie points)
- A gift (ideally whatever bears any of the following labels: Gucci, Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, or anything hot that season): starting from HK$1000
- A room in a hotel with sufficient stardom? (Sky is the limit) HK$5000

GIRLS might get buried in major (I repeat, MAJOR) debts for (ironically) adapting to the concept of “I don’t need no gift, YOU are already my gift” (quoted from the object of their affection).

Let me paint you a little picture. Girls might need:

The Outfit
Which conveys the following messages (If it is really possible):
- Hard to get, yet attainable
- Sexy, yet respectable
- Strong, yet vulnerable
- Successful, yet humble
- Sophisticated, yet down to earth
- Independent, yet a team player
= sexy undies, delicate tops, sophisticated jackets, vulnerable skirts, stiletto heeled leather boots, successful hand bags, independent watches, down to earth jewelry, etc etc etc (noticed the plurals? Girls buy several of each item, just in case ^_*) = $$$$$$

The Face, Body & Ass
- Hair styling (shampooing, conditioning, softening, volumizing, curling, straightening, coloring, styling)
- Hair removal (brows, underarms, arms, legs, face, butts, ears, back, chest, hello-hello? Wink wink)
- Skin care (cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing, softening, perfume infusing)
- Nails (pink with lace, crystal, ribbons, etc. gel nail?)
- Make up (moisturizers, primer, foundation, concealer, powder, shadow, pen liners, pencil liners, bronzer, illuminator, highlighter, brow shaper, fake lashes, sparkly sparklers, cream blush, powder blush, lip balm, lip base, lipstick, lip pencil, lip gloss)
- Eye defining, new colored-contact lenses

The Love Pad
- New beddings (400 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets in hot pink-magenta hues)
- A new sofa (Thai silk covered, in passionate red shade)
- New throw pillows to compliment the sofa (preferably heart shaped?)
- Bouquets of flowers thrown all around the flat (so the guy would think he isn’t the only suitor)
- Room fragrance, something seductive (nono, bleach does NOT count)

I think you got the picture.

To conclude, A Super-Happy-Romantic-Amazing-Memorable Valentine is indeed,
PRICELESS
