Touches of Gray

I hardly wore grey, but now I am hooked! I wore this muted ensemble to work.

Loving this coral, torquoise and silver Nepali necklace from Temple St, it kinda matches my nail color a little. It's a catch for just HK$28

I always need belt to add definition to my waist. Belts also magically alter pieces of clothes into fantastic outfits. This one's from In & Out, Mongkok, HK$29. I wish I had a dove gray chiffon or silk dress...that'd look beyond for parties! The little gray cotton cardigan is from Fa Yuen St Market for HK$39, I wish I could buy all the colors available in one shot...but that made me feel guilty, I'll go back next week and get the rest of the colors. Haha! What a cheat! The navy polka dot cotton summer dress is from This Fashion, Singapore. SGD19.90

Love this pair of silver open toed slingbacks for summer. They are from Vincci, Kuala Lumpur, RM29. Looks perfect with polished toenails.

Crazy Weekend Shopping Spree

I've bought loadssss of stuff. Lucky I didn't buy the whole H&M.
This particular mini dress/long flow top is my favorite catch. It's from Maple (Nathan Road, Mong Kok), HK$79
The color flatters me, I am nuts about peachy pink accented with black, it's lacey, frilly, girly, spring-summery. Love it!
The black jeans are from Marks & Spencer (sale!), HK$250. A bit of a splurge, but hey, nothing fits my gigantic bottom in HK, so I am happy with this.

Stay tuned for other stuff I've bought. It feels rather embarrassing to post them all at once. LOL

Black T & Flowy Skirt - Mix & Match Survival (until next shopping spree)

I have to keep mixing and matching to survive...until my next shopping spree.
This time, it's all black and very pale salted egg colored flowy skirt. An easy ensemble for work.
Everything's remixed, except the black cotton tee with slightly puffy sleeves from In & Out, HK$39 (I should've bought this in every color, it's so freakin versatile and comfy).

Boy, that looks like a heck of a bad hair and bad make up day. Hmm, or maybe it was due to all pending tasks on hand, they frizzed my hair and sucked the life outta me!

Work Remix

Just another day of work. Very me, color coordinated, flattering, involves something vintage, something polka dot, messy hair and just enough make up.

All items are remixed. I realized that I haven't been shopping for quite a while. During this transitional period from winter to spring/summer...the budget-friendly shops haven't had enough time to copy all of the new trends, I guess I'll just have to wait and make do with what I already have ;)

Not in My Element

Those who know me should know that I was not in my element. I normally wear outfits that give ultra feminine vibes, flowy bottoms, cinched at the waist, puffy sleeves, pretty colors. Well, I didn't feel like it that day. So I decided to put together something "not-me" and hoped for the best. Hmmm, I kinda like it. Don't you?

I wore this ensemble roaming around home furnishing shops in Sha Tin last weekend. Noticed the flats? I needed those for the 4 hour window shopping trip.

Everything I wore were remixed, except the black pin-striped vest, it's from Fa Yuen St Market, HK$59

Weekend Window Shopping Spree

Where to? Causeway Bay. Hoping to catch the Hong Kong Flower Festival and roam around IKEA, Franc Franc and Price Rite to drool at adorable home furnishings.

I just realised that the shades made me look like Rachel Zoe + 100 kgs. It's not exactly flattering for my huge face.

Better? Not really? Hahahaha

I went home empty handed from this trip. Well done!
Everything I wore are remixed stuff. Gosh, I really need to go shopping.

Vintage Spring in Fitting Room

I always saw people posing in fitting rooms. I guess it's a great way to pose with new clothes I can't afford without having to buy 'em eh?
Too bad nothing I tried on fitted that day. Oppps.
So I just took some shots in my own clothes.
My favorite vintage dress, this time with a dash of yellow.

Everything's remixed ^_^

X-Ray Shopping Bag from Homeless

How creative! I sooo want one! Available in various sizes, including a make up pouch. How cool!

I love everything from this shop, full of super creative, out-of-the-box goodies. I must not bring my credit card there, it's dangerous.

I even love the name of the shop, HOMELESS.

Casual Friday

What looks good with my skinny jeans?
This new polka dot sleeveless top! Hmm, actually I don't need an excuse to wear new clothes, right?
I've been waiting for a chance to wear this sleeveless top, and this 19-23 weather is just perfect! A short cotton hooded jacket kept me warm enough, as well as covered. My winter arms are gigantic! Not ready for sleeveless yet.

What was I doing? Walking around Central, checking out Marks and Spencer after having my lunch in the office. A little window shopping never hurts. It helps digesting the food, doesn't it?

Top = Polka dot sleeveless top with tie up neck from Jakarta
Jacket = hooded cotton short jacket from Zara
Skinny jeans = the only pair of jeans I have, remixed
Shoes = white peep toe heels, remixed
Bag = from H&M, remixed

Not Your Average Delivery Guy & My Motorcycle Traumas

Motorcycle is a significant part of Jakarta's transport.

They break through traffic deadlocks pretty easily, swarms of these can be found in Jakarta's streets, and they scare the heck outta me. I can't ride a bike, not to mention a motorcycle, but I had my share of motorcycle nightmares as a passenger.

My motorcycle traumas:
- I had an experience of being a passenger on a motorcycle from Grogol to Mangga Dua, and during the two hours ride, I pretty much buried my face on the driver's jacket, almost lost some toes, and I am sure my heart was shrunk to the size of a frozen pea.
- I was injured another time, when my friend's motorcycle hit a cement road divider. We fell, the motorcycle fell on top of my shin, and a bus passed, missed us by a few centimeters.
- I was getting ready to hop onto the passenger seat, and my friend, the driver, started to drive away. I landed flat on my butt, my skirt went up, right in front of a bunch of guys. The embarrassment? It helped shaping me into the shameless girl I am now ^_^

I loved this scene of a bunch of giant tires being delivered by a motorcycle. The way the tires were arranged ensure balance on the tiny vehicle. Quite a work of art, don't you think?

Creative Storage - Toy Truck from Javanese Dugderan

Not your ordinary storage. My sis, the ever so creative designer, uses this toy truck she got at Javanese traditional street toy fair (dugderan) in our hometown, Semarang, to store her otherwise messy piles of stationery and knick knacks.

Now those mini Hong Kong taxis and light buses she parked near the truck had to worry about being hit by a falling stapler.

I am loving the Indonesian flag. Nice touch of nationalism. The only missing thing is the typical corny dangdut inspired Indonesian bumper stickers, such as "Janda kembang" or "Rindu Dendam".

Dreamy Cream Lace on Grey Cotton

I am not a big fan of grey...I used to think the color washes me out and made me look gloomy.
I was wrong. Recently, I found out that various grey eye shadows are flattering for me, and this softest shade of grey kinda brighten me up. A great transition from winter to spring/summer.

I wouldn't have dreamt of pairing grey with cream, or even gold. I gave it a try, and I was pleasantly surprised. Everything worked so well together. I put together this outfit for a casual Friday work...and off to have fun after 6 ^_^

Top = grey cotton with cream lace from Tsuen Wan, HK$79
Belt = cream stretchy belt from Argyle centre, remixed
Jeans = my only pair of jeans, skinny cut, dark shade, remixed again and again
Shoes = white peep toe heels from Argyle centre, remixed
Earrings = cream flowers with gold accents, from Forever 21, Jakarta, Rp.49.000,-
Ring = butterfly ring, a part of a set of 3, from Forever 21, Jakarta, remixed
Bag = Cream monogrammed Celine tote, remixed
Nail color = black gold polish from Sasa

Drug Addict?

Being sick is no fun. Regardless of how beautiful the colors of the drugs are.

I think my continuous cough has orchestrated some twisted symphonies of cough at work. I'd start with a soft cough, and it'd be followed by at least 5 others, crescedo-ing into a series of thunderous coughs , with some dramatic gagging sounds and rhythmic vibrations of virus laden phlegm and mucus.

Ain't a pretty song to start your week with.

A Wall of Vintage Goodies

I always envy my sister's vintage goodies. Look at the back of her study room door and you'll know why. These are just a fraction of her whole vintage wardrobe. Vintage purses (look at that cartier!), old printed scarves....thrifted houndstooth tweed beret...I should've sneaked some into my luggage. Damn!

His vs Hers - Scents which Made Me Go Hmmmm

Hers:
(clockwise from top left) Deep Red by Hugo Boss, Healing Garden's Green Tea Therapy body mist, GAP Scent "Dream", Kenzo Flower, Marc Jacobs' Blush, Acqua di Gio, Marc Jacobs, L'eau Par Kenzo
Total = 8 bottles

Normally, I am not a huge perfume fan. I'd buy a couple which I really love and stick with them for-almost-ever. But there was a short period of time when I was surrounded by perfume loving friends, I was indeed influenced (not in a negative way), and gathered quite a collection of scents. Now I am left with 8 bottles of scents, most of them almost empty. Time for spring scent shopping? Oh yeah. Let's see how sous chef's collection.

His:
(clockwise from top left) Body Shop's "Of A Man", Soul by Hugo Boss, L'eau d'Issey pour homme, Jazz by YSL, Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger, Chic for men by Carolina Herrera, Eternity Summer by Calvin Klein, Aigner, YSL Paris
Total = 9 bottles (WINNER!)

Quite an extensive collection of scents for a guy, eh? What is he? Metro? That was then, when he had to attract the ladies with some expensive scents. Now, he thinks that his natural scent, along with some garlic/onion scents from restaurant fumes = the sweetest scent in the universe. The 9 bottles...are pretty much abandoned.

Scents which Made Me Go Hmmm...
Summer

L'eau par Kenzo: I love that it is very light, refreshing, floral, watermelony and not citrusy. Citrusy scents smell like vinegar on me, especially in summer. Ew!

Blush by Marc Jacobs: It smells like jasmine in a wonderful way (not funeral-ish way), modern, young and expensive.

Winter

Marc Jacobs: it is rich, yet not overwhelming. Elegant, yet not old. It reminds me of home (I have a garden of tuberosa/bunga sedap malam at my rooftop back home in Indonesia), and it is super long lasting.

Scents for Men which Make Me Go Crazy
Crazy? How crazy? Ripping his clothes off? You wish. Haha
These scents attract me so much, they made me sniff around a bus to find the source of the scent, they made me follow the person with the scent without realizing it...they are DANGEROUS (at least for me)!

Of a Man, from The Body Shop: It is quite sweet, but still masculine. I guess only real men could pull this off ;)

Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger: This is the scent that totally kills me. Spray this on a frog and it'd look like a prince charming to me.

I told you it's dangerous.

Mirror Mirror on the Wall

Showing off Sharing this fab vintage mirror I found in Sham Shui Po's Ap Liu St Market.
A very critical tool for a narcissist like me. I wish I had more walls to put up mirrors in my flat. How Donald Trump-ish of me...(I remember him saying "When in doubt, slap a mirror on it")

I love the old gold Dragon and Phoenix carvings on the western looking frame. Very East meets West. It looks fantastic on my chest of drawers, which is not pictured here as it is ultra messy at this moment. How much? Just HK$50 (=USD6.4) ^_^

Casual Fridays

I used to hate casual Fridays.

Whoa whoa whoa WHOA!
Why?
Because I hate wearing jeans.
Why?
Because no jeans fit me. I look crap in jeans. Nothing worked, I've tried everything from Levis, Chevignon, to Miss Sixty...and...nothing.

But after I got these no brand, super sized, dark skinny jeans, which my sister recommended me (no one else knows the challenges of my huge booty better than she does), I started to love casual Fridays.

I wore this ensemble going out to dinner and dessert with friends. The top flatters me, the hooded short jacket kept me warm, mustard green heels to match the top and the jeans...bootylicious.

Top: chiffon shocking pink plaid ruffled top, from Tsuen Wan, HK$89
Jacket: yellow hooded cotton short jacket, from Zara, HK$129
Jeans: dark skinny jeans, from Plasa Senayan, Jakarta, IDR199.000
Shoes: (not shown, remixed) green mustard heels
